This year we migrated slowly first south from the Chesapeake to Florida in Oct/November. After a stop in Fort Pierce, Florida we crosse the "famous" Gulf-stream and sailed to The Bahamas in November.
We enjoyed our time in Nassau but should mention that can be windy and chilly in the evenings. Just after Christmas Day we sailing south to the Exumas Islands. The weather was not very cooperative and we stayed inside the Exumas Sound for the whole length of the Exumas chain. We finally discovered Georgetown this time.
As the final destination for the trip was Providenciales in the Turks & Caicos Islands, so we had to keep on going. On the way there we stopped in front of "Crooked Island"and the uninhabited West Plana Cay. Unfortunately this time we skipped Mayaguana Island, one of our favorites in the Outer Bahamian Islands.
The weather didn't permit us to stay in Turks & Caicos longer than the time of a beautiful dive on the reef. Strong winds were forecasted and we wanted to reach St. Martin as soon as possible for upcoming projects.
The trip from Turks & Caicos to St.Martin was against the wind - several days of upwind was exhausting for Moonwave and us. There is a "reason" why we normally first sail to the Caribbeans from the US and then on the way up north stop in The Bahamas. But we made it ;-)
Here are some pictures from our time in The Bahamas - we are still in love with the turquoise blue waters of the Bahamas and Turks & Caicos and Sunrises/sets for sure ;-)
