We experienced Bali a bit different than most visitors. First of all, the “new normal” like they call it here is giving us a different picture of Bali and as there are almost no tourists, we also missed out on the “famous” traffic jams and masses of “lobster red” Australians that party hard.
A lot of restaurants, hotels and sights are either closed or have limited openings but also much cheaper prices than usual. Our stay here stretched longer than originally planned as we were waiting for parts from overseas. Shipping and customs are not easy in times when planes/flights are limited and borders are closed. Also we had no luck as the first airline lost one of the packages and we had to start all over again. But no reasons to complain other than the hot and humid weather - people are very friendly and living costs are low.
It’s just very sad to see the masses of plastic in the ocean and on the beaches. Hopefully this will change soon and the local habits will change and the alternatives to plastic packaging will be found and used.
By the way, we stayed in Benoa Harbor with Moonwave - well protected and a lot going on in the harbor itself...
As usual, we tackled lots of DustItYourself Projects on board - paiting, sewing, leather work, more sewing, maintenance, electronics etc.
